What is the Process of Getting Invisalign?
In the initial diagnosis, Eley Family Dentistry will assess your smile and how Invisalign can improve it. Our staff will take X-rays, pictures and impressions of your mouth to get an accurate representation of what needs to be fixed. Invisalign will then use the data we have gathered and will make a virtual tour of your new smile. You will be able to see how your smile will improve with every stage of treatment. Treatment with Invisalign for most adults takes approximately a year. With teens, the amount of time is similar to the amount of time with braces; one to three years. An accurate assessment of time can be given once your oral health is assessed in our office.
Once you start your Invisalign system, the process is extremely easy to follow. As you wear your Invisalign aligners throughout the day, your teeth with gradually shift into their new positions. Simply take off the aligners to brush and floss twice per day and when you eat. Every two weeks you will have a new set of aligners that will help further adjust your teeth.

What Kind of Upkeep is Required for My Invisalign Aligners?
Invisalign requires minimal care. Braces can be a hassle when you have to brush and floss between pesky wires and around brackets cemented to your teeth. With Invisalign, you just scrub the aligners with a toothbrush as you would with your teeth. This only has to happen once a day, so you can choose whether you clean them at night or in the morning. If one of your Invisalign aligners breaks, is lost or damaged, immediately contact our office and we will be better able to help you get a replacement as quickly as possible.
Make sure to regularly schedule visits to Eley Family Dentistry. You may have to go more frequently than you normally would so we can track your Invisalign progress. Your individualized treatment plan that you will discuss with our staff will give you all the information you need for scheduling appointments and caring for your new Invisalign system.
