What are Dental Implants?

If you want to enjoy a permanent smile that gives you back your confidence and zeal for life, you can count on dental implants to deliver. Mimicking small screws, these titanium posts act like tooth roots, embedding into the jawbone and delivering optimal support to a newly crafted set of teeth. Dental implants effectively restore and rebuild the underlying portions of missing teeth so that complete root-to-crown replacements are provided.
The 4-Step Dental Implant Process

- Initial Dental Implant Consultation – You will be required to meet with Dr. Daniel Eley or Dr. Joel Eley to talk about your oral and overall health during an initial consultation. They’ll also examine your jawbone density to see if bone grafting might be required before surgery.
- Dental Implant Surgery – Our dentists will evaluate your specific case to see if it’s one that we can do in-house or if a referral is needed. If a referral is needed, we have several fantastic specialists that we work with who do excellent work. We’ll provide local anesthesia before positioning each dental implant into the appropriate place. Once satisfied, we will close the gum tissue and provide each post with a healing cap.
- Dental Implant Osseointegration/Abutment – The next 3-6 months will be spent allowing osseointegration to occur. This step is necessary if dental implants are to succeed, as they must fuse with the existing jawbone to establish a firm base of support. Once you are healed, you will return to receive your metal abutments. Placed on top of the implants, these keep the restoration in place.
- Delivery of Dental Implant Restoration(s) – No matter what kind of restoration you need (i.e., crown, bridge, or denture), we will attach it to your dental implants, ensuring it fits properly and looks completely natural.
Benefits of Dental Implants

The benefits that come with dental implants cannot be compared to those you might achieve with dentures or dental bridges. As the closest thing to natural teeth, these prosthetics offer more than a visibly restored smile; they also rebuild the foundation to ensure longer-lasting structural integrity. Dental implants also:
- Stimulate the jawbone to prevent further bone and tooth loss, as well as facial collapse
- Create a more youthful, natural-looking appearance by filling in sunken areas of the face
- Can last for 30+ years, with many patients claiming to enjoy them for a lifetime
- Require no food restrictions, so you are free to eat all your favorite meals and snacks
- Are easy to clean, requiring no additional products for proper maintenance
- Are cost-effective in the long run, as they do not need to be replaced (in most cases), and they don’t require adhesive to hold them in place
