Melbourne Dentist
Get to Know Dr. Joel Eley

Dr. Joel Eley says that dentistry felt like the perfect fit from the very beginning. He likes working with people, he likes working with his hands, and he’s always been very detail-oriented. Combine this with the satisfaction of resolving his patients’ issues and seeing them happy with their results, and there’s no place he’d rather be than our dental office in Melbourne!
Why Did You Decide to Become a Dentist?

Dr. Joel Eley had an interest in dentistry from a young age, but did not decide to pursue it until he was finishing up his Teach for America program after college (where he taught chemistry). Deciding between medical school and dental school, he ended up shadowing dentists and talking to his brother (Dr. Daniel Eley), which convinced him to pursue dentistry. He’s certainly glad he did because he says the profession feels like it was made just for him!

Where Did You Study Dentistry?
After attending Rollins College and earning his master’s degree from Johns Hopkins University, Dr. Joel Eley went on to complete his dental education at the University of Maryland. He started his career working in a community health center, mostly doing oral surgery, and he has also received many hours of advanced training in dental implant dentistry. To stay at the leading edge of his field, he is a member of the American Dental Association and the Florida Dental Association.
Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?

When he isn’t practicing alongside his brother, Dr. Daniel Eley, you’ll usually find Dr. Joel Eley spending time with his wife, Lauren, and their four children. On any given weekend, he likes to relax by going to the beach, exercising, fishing/boating, brewing beer, or making delicious BBQ.
